“Poland’s Energy Policy in the Context of Threats to the Development of the Textile Industry Sector” – Conference

On Friday, December 9, 2022, in company’s headquarters, a conference entitled “Poland’s energy policy in the aspect of threats to the development of the textile sector” was held.

The event was attended by owners and specialists from Zakład Włókienniczy Biliński, representatives of the Łódź branch of the Polish Textile Association, as well as invited guests engaged in energy and textile-related topics.

The discussion focused on the current situation in the energy sector, both locally and globally, ongoing and planned investments and their impact on the development of textile-oriented enterprises.

The mentioned projects are dependent on the energy policy pursued by the European Union, which includes decarbonization, or the shift away from coal and the increase in production from renewable sources. Nuclear energy is also considered, but decisions and investments in this area are linked to the individual situation of each EU member country. The ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the current sanctions against Russia, one of the main natural gas exporters, are also significant factors.

Faced with the growing energy crisis in the world, the question is not only about the methods of generating energy, but also about how to store it and increase production.

Energy transformation encompasses technological, economic, social, and environmental aspects. The textile industry, which is closely dependent on various sources and types of energy, faces the challenge of rising production costs and the need for innovations to maintain the competitiveness of companies.

Solar Energy – Support for Modern Textile Industry

We are pleased to announce the completion of a project under the Regional Operational Program of the Łódź Voivodeship for the years 2014-2020, concerning the construction of infrastructure for the production of electric and thermal energy from renewable sources (Measure IV. I Renewable energy sources, Sub-measure IV 1.2.)

Thanks to funding from the European Union, 526 photovoltaic modules were installed on our roof and parts of the building’s façade. The total capacity of the entire installation is 199.88 kWp.

This investment will allow us to achieve our main goal of producing electric and thermal energy from renewable sources, directly from solar radiation. This is another step in improving the company’s infrastructure and production processes in order to even more comprehensively implement the assumptions of the circular economy.

Modern Tex-Water-Rec technology with a grant!

Lucyna Bilińska, PhD, Eng – researcher at the Department of Molecular Engineering of the Technical University of Łódź and Head of the R&D department at the Biliński Textile Plant, won the “Small Grant Scheme” competition. Her project titled “Modern techniques for the treatment and recycling of textile wastewater using plasma catalysts” was included in the list of 27 applications recommended for co-financing. A total of 5 million euros has been allocated for the implementation of the awarded projects.

The goal of the “Small Grand Scheme” competition, implemented as part of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021, is to support female scientists in their scientific career development.

As part of the competition, individual entities from Poland can receive funding for two-year research projects in the field of industrial research or development works.

The project led by Lucyna Bilińska, PhD, Eng will be implemented with the participation of research team members led by Prof. Jacek Tyczkowski. The technical solution (plasma catalyst reactor) will also be tested on an enlarged scale under industrial conditions. This method has significant implementation potential. We hope it will become an effective tool for even greater protection of water resources.

Congratulations and we keep our fingers crossed for the project!

NEW IN OUR OFFER – antiviral finish

The textile industry, using modern technologies, modifies traditional fabrics to give them new functional characteristics. Innovative methods in the field of textile finishing and coating provide an opportunity not only to influence appearance but also the functions of the processed fabrics. Thanks to this, the textile industry can produce textile products that meet quality standards as well as respond to the demand for a product with specific properties.

Taking into account the growing requirements for textile products with protective functions, we have introduced an antivirus finish to our offer.
